Collapse of the Democratic Onslaught

Filed under: Congress, Humor, Politics — cynicalsynapse @ 7:34 pm

There are dozens of parodies of the scene from the German movie Downfall about Hitler’s last 10 days in the bunker below the Reichs Chancellery. This one, however, has to come pretty close to summing up how the Democrats and Pres. Obama feel after Republican Scott Brown’s election to finish Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-MA) term.

Pundits are busy huffing and puffing about the meaning of Brown’s victory in staunchly Democratic Massachusetts. It seems to me the Democrats have been mad with power. Witness Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid’s handling of the healthcare bill. But polls suggest the people are tired of being ignored by their elected representatives. Incumbents of either party should fear if they’ve failed to faithfully represent the will of their constituents. Otherwise, come November, they face the same fate as those in the video.

  1. Soooooooo glad to see you posting again, I was beginning to get worried about you.

Enjoyed the video and you are so right, Congress needs to remember they work for us.

  2. Hey Cynical.

Although I gotta say I disagree with you completely about Harry Reid ( I think we’re on opposite sides of this health care debate), I’m glad to see you back in the mix. Been missing your stuff.

  3. @Glenda: Thanks. That’s my biggest frustration with politicians. They don’t even seem to care about us.

@teamowens313: Yep, we agree to disagree on healthcare. I’d be less concerned about it if Reid didn’t cut all his backroom deals to buy votes and if they’d been more transparent in crafting the thing. Then there’s Rep. Conyers who can’t even be bothered to read the bill.

And thanks for stopping by. I’ve just been very busy lately.

  4. Good grief, CS! You gave me a scare. I was afraid you’d given up and went off to greener pastures. Welcome back.

You and I have agreed so many times on those “dully elected” officials in Washington. Both parties have long abandon the American people in favor of the wealth that corporate Amereica and the wealthy bestow upon them. That’s why it is so sickening when they get on TV and tell us how they’re ‘looking out for the American people’. What hypocrites! I think it’s time to throw the baby out with the bath water.

    • Sorry for the scare Old Man. Just been a very busy start of the New Year, with no expectation of change any time soon.

Yep, we agree on a lot of things and I’m still dead set on voting out all the incumbents, regardless of party. They’re all sleaze bags.
