Harry Reid announces vote on healthcare debate

On Saturday, November 21st, the Senate voted 60-39 to debate the healthcare bill. I wanted to check the roll call, but no record of the vote. I wanted to see the official roll call even though I already know how my Democratic Senators voted.

No record of this vote represents a total lack of the transparency promised by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). And on the very first damn vote! Why the hell is there no record of this vote?

Do you suppose any of those guys have read the damn bill beginning to end? I’ll be asking my Senators to see what kind of form letter comes back.

  1. Yea, I’m waiting to see what Debbie Stabenow sends to me after I sent a note asking her to not vote in favor of the Socialized medicine bill as well.

I clicked the check box on Levin’s site to not get a reply. I really don’t want to read his justification to seize control of 1/6th of our economy

    • Yeah, while I don’t really want to hear either one blather, I want them to feel they owe me a response. Even though I know it won’t really matter because I’m just a constituent.

      • Got an e-mail from Debbie. It was a form response.

But, she said the most incredible thing in her response. She said that SHE believes health care is a right.

Doesn’t matter what the Constitution says, doesn’t matter what the people think. It only matters what she thinks.

  2. “Transparency” is a word our politicians use when referring to the opposition. The truth is the last thing any of our elected officials want is transparency. Most likely that would land the majority of them in jail – forget about being thrown out or not re-elected.

  3. @steve: I’d split hairs on health care being a right. But, that’s not the same as it being an entitlement or required by the Constitution. And, yeah, she only cares what she thinks.

I’m still waiting for my response. She’s starting to build a backlog for me…

@Old Man: I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. Glad to have you back.
