Great post.

The implications of tribalism are hard to grasp. Read something about the same concept in lebanon – with a cocktail of imperial, tribal, ethnic, religious and national political forces competing.

But ensuring non-abandonment could prove hard, considering the WH’s already leaking exit-strategies and timetables.

The whole region is in turmoil, but we can't allow extremists to topple Pakistan and Afghanistan is inextricably linked to that. @gracedavila—First, thank you for your service. Afghanistan is where the Global War on Terror started and it is the crucial front. I've updated the post with expanded quotes from the President based on the Youtube video of his remarks. He does not intend to be there 100 years. I'm with you, we can't allow Afghanistan to be the next Vietnam.

I was deployed to Bagram Afghanistan, and while we were deployed there were rumors about how the military got into another 100 year contract on the Afghanistan territory. So, are we going to be there for another 100 years,Oh boy..

@steve: I'd split hairs on health care being a right. But, that's not the same as it being an entitlement or required by the Constitution. And, yeah, she only cares what she thinks. I said it several months ago – health care reform will be nothing but another gold rush for the health care industry, and the citizens will be left to pay for it – just another Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. No matter who’s controlling Congress and the White House, “we the people” loose.
