Exactly. (They don't know that of course which is part of the reason I called the store. I wasn't even upset, just letting them know that it was a waste of the companies time and money.) I'm surprised to hear of your experience at Lowes of all places...I've never even known them to check receipts like this! Too bad, cause I liked shoppping at Wal-Mart. I’m surprised to hear of your experience at Lowes of all places…I’ve never even known them to check receipts like this!

It's kind of like, uh, needing a passport to re-enter your own country! I have not shopped at Lowe's since September 2007 because of their receipt harassment. Interestingly, that was the first—and last—time I had that experience at Lowe's. Might have been an overzealous employee with nothing better to do (the store was not busy at the time), but Lowe's has lost a customer for life. Glad I found this site. This just happened to me at (where else) but Wal-Mart today 6/19. Without going into details, I felt harrassed and very embarrassed. Not only did she just "check" my receipt but she leaned into the cart and starting moving bags around. I've never had this happen so I really didn't think much about it until now. I called and spoke with the store's manager who was very professional and apologized. I felt criminalized. Hi! Glad I found this site. I'm glad that I'm not alone on this anymore. Most people don't realize how rights slowly erode when they aren't exercised. I can't help but think that our current generation doesn't appreciate our freedoms, as we haven't really earned them. I somehow doubt that any WWII vets would tolerate such treatment. I anxiously await the outcome of Michael's case. Hopefully, he will meet a quick victory; and will sue them into the stoneage (collective them, both Circuit City and Officer Arroyo's department).
